Querying
SliceVault includes a built-in querying system designed to streamline communication between roles when clarification or correction is needed during the study workflow. Queries can be opened and responded to directly within the platform, typically in the DICOM Viewer or through the dedicated queries page. The functionality is slightly different depending on the user role.
Where Queries Appear
Queries in SliceVault are not limited to a single page. Depending on your role and the stage of the workflow, you may see query indicators in the repository, in the dedicated query list, and inside the viewer while reviewing images or forms.
Repository Indicators
The repository gives you a quick overview of which visits currently need attention. Open queries are shown directly on the visit tile so you can spot them without opening each visit one by one.

Use the repository when you want to:
- identify visits with open questions
- see which patient and visit the query belongs to
- jump from the repository into the visit dashboard for more detail
Query List and Filters
The dedicated query page gives you a table view of all queries available to your role. This is usually the best place to filter, sort, and review several query threads at once.

The query list is useful when you need to:
- review all open or recently updated queries
- filter by status or other available columns
- confirm whether a thread has already been answered or verified
Queries Inside the Viewer
When you open a visit in the viewer, query tools are available close to the image and form workflow. This is where users typically create new queries, reply to existing ones, and review the full thread in context.
You can read more about how queries are handled by each role under their dedicated sections:
