Getting Started as a Quality Control Manager
This overview provides a brief introduction to what you will do as a Quality Control (QC) Manager in SliceVault. It outlines your core responsibilities – performing quality control checks, managing queries, and process visits through the study workflow (to second quality control review or central reading).
Note: Access to data and functionality depends on your user role and the workflow configuration in your study. SliceVault supports both single and dual sequential QC workflows. Depending on the workflow in place, different QC managers may have access to data at specific stages of the process.
What You’ll Do in SliceVault
Once logged in, you will assess data submitted by sites and perform quality control checks. Your tasks typically follow a structured workflow as described below.
Perform Quality Checks
Via the study repository, open the visit dashboard to access data. Complete the QC form (if required) to document your assessment. If issues are found, open a query to the Investigator. Once resolved, navigate back to the visit dashboard to close the query. When your review is complete and the visit meets all study requirements, update the status to Approved by QC to finalize your assessment. If the visit cannot be approved and needs to return to the Investigator, select Rejected by QC and click the “Notify investigator” link to re-open the visit to the investigators.
Note: These steps form the foundation of your role as a QC Manager in SliceVault. Each action is documented in more detail within the sub-pages below.
Add-on Features for QC Managers
You may have access to certain add-on features to support protocol-specific data handling, oversight, or coordination tasks.
Feature | Description |
---|---|
AI QC Assist | Integrates AI-driven tools into the QC workflow to automate the detection of common imaging errors, such as incorrect slice thickness, missing slices, or improper contrast usage. |
Image Masking | Tools for manual masking of burned-in annotations, especially when automated de-identification requires reinforcement. |
DICOM Tag Editor | Enables editing of DICOM metadata to ensure image metadata meet study-specific categorization. |
Share with Reader | Provides a shortcut that allows a QC1 user to send data directly to a central reading. This feature is typically used in studies with only one QC role, bypassing the standard two-step QC1 → QC2 approval flow. |
Adjudication | Enables QC Managers to notify the adjudicator when their input is required and provides access to all reader assessment forms related to the adjudication process. |
KPI Dashboard | Displays key performance indicators such as upload compliance, QC timelines, or site-specific metrics to track study progress. |
Eligibility Confirmation | Lets QC Managers confirm whether uploaded images meet eligibility criteria as defined in the protocol. |
DICOM Push | Allows pushing DICOM images to external PACS, for workflows requiring data continuity outside SliceVault. |
Visit Administration | Provides tools to bypass normal workflow restictions, for example to change visit status, change visit type or unlock forms. |
