Password Requirements
To protect both your SliceVault account and the sensitive data it holds, all users must follow our password policy and security guidelines. Strong, regularly updated passwords are a key component of system security.
Password Policy
Your password must meet the following criteria to be accepted by the system:
Password Length - Passwords must have a minimum of 12 characters to be accepted.
Character Requirements - Each password must contain at least one digit and one uppercase letter.
Password Expiry - Users are required to change their password at first login, and then every 90 days thereafter.
Unique Passwords - New passwords must be unique and cannot match any of the three most recently used passwords.
Changing Your Password - You can change your password at any time by entering your current password and selecting a new, valid one that meets all criteria.
For detailed instructions, see our Change Password page, under Getting Started.
Account Security
To further safeguard access to the platform, SliceVault enforces additional security measures:
Account Lockout
After five consecutive failed login attempts, your account will be locked automatically. If this happens, please reach out to your trial administrator, or visit our Support Page to find assistance based on your role in the system.
Session Timeout
User sessions will automatically time out after 60 minutes of inactivity. After a timeout, you will need to log in again to resume your work.
Tips for Creating a Strong Password
Creating a secure password doesn’t need to be complicated. Below you’ll find some best practices.
-
Combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols for maximum strength.
-
Avoid easily guessed information such as “password,” “123456,” or personal data like birthdays.
-
Consider using a passphrase - a sequence of unrelated words (e.g., OrangeRiverLampSky) - which can be both strong and easy to remember.
Following these guidelines helps protect not just your account, but the overall security and integrity of the research and clinical data stored within SliceVault.
